The
Health and Physical Education department at
Pinelands Regional High School is dedicated to
promoting a comprehensive program that prepares
all students to actively and effectively achieve
lifelong wellness. The curriculum includes an
instructional sequence that provides our
students multiple opportunities to use the
acquired knowledge and skills in meaningful,
authentic and realistic ways, fostering the
intrinsic value of physical and mental wellness.
Both the Health and Physical Education
curriculums have been updated, revised, and
coordinated to meet all of the goals and
objectives of the recently approved New Jersey
State core course curriculum framework.

Health
Education - The curriculum is designed
to motivate and assist students to
maintain and improve their health, prevent
disease, and reduce health-related risk
behaviors. The
comprehensive curriculum includes a
variety of topics such as personal health,
family health, community health, consumer
health, environmental health, sexuality
education, mental and emotional health,
injury prevention and care, prevention and
control of disease, and substance use and
abuse. |

| Physical
Education - The curriculum provides
sequential cognitive content and learning
experiences in a variety of activity area.
Subjects covered include basic movement
skills, physical fitness, aerobics,
exercise regimens, strength and
conditioning, dual and individual sports,
and team games, encompassing skills,
rules, and participation. The physical
education program promotes through a
variety of planned physical activities,
each student's optimum physical, mental,
emotional, and social development and
should introduce activities and sports
that all students enjoy and can pursue
throughout their lives. |
