Every year, many seniors are fortunate enough to
receive scholarships from various organizations,
businesses, academic clubs, local community
groups, generous individuals, and colleges and universities.
Students should take advantage of these
scholarships and apply to as many as possible,
providing they fit the criteria for that
particular scholarship.
The Pinelands
Regional School District will make an effort to
update the scholarships so that every student has
the opportunity to apply for them. If you
have any questions concerning a particular
scholarship, please contact the Student
Services.

SCHOLARSHIPS
AVAILABLE

The Master Gardeners of Ocean County, Inc.,
are offering two scholarships to all
eligible Ocean County graduating seniors.
These scholarships are offered to students
who are planning a career in the field of
horticulture, agriculture or related fields,
including nursery management, landscaping,
forestry, environmental sciences, etc. Each
scholarship is valued at $1,000.
Applications are available with Mrs. Coia in
the Student Services office. Other
requirements apply. Deadline for application
is Wednesday, March 31, 2010.
The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Foundation is offering two (2) $2500
scholarships to graduating seniors who plan
to pursue a college or other post-secondary
education (trade school, etc.). Applications
must be received by Friday, April 16, 2010.
Applications are available through Mrs. Coia
in the Student Services office.
The Seaside Heights Education Association is
offering a $500 award to a graduating senior
who may have been a graduate of the Hugh J.
Boyd Jr. Elementary School in Seaside
Heights, NJ. Anyone who may meet this
requirement should see Mrs. Coia for an
application. Deadline is March 15, 2010.
The New Jersey State Elks Special Children's
Committee is offering their Special Needs
Scholarship Awards to any physically
disabled high school seniors who plan to
further their education. These are four-year
scholarships valued at up to $2,500 per
year. For applications and further
information please see Mrs. Coia in Student
Services. The deadline for this application
is Friday, April 2, 2010.
The Robert A. Hacker Memorial Scholarship
Contest is offering a $2,000 scholarship to
a graduating senior who plans to further
his/her education. Candidates must have a
relative who is a former or present member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. This
scholarship contest requires the submission
of a 400 to 500 word essay. Applications and
further information available with Mrs. Coia
in the Student Services office.
The New Jersey Retired Educators Association
is offering it's annual scholarships to
graduating seniors who will go on to attend
a two- or four-year institution. A $500
award will be offered to a student attending
community college, and a $1,000 award will
be offered to a student attending a
four-year institution. Applications and
requirements are available with Mrs. Coia in
the Student Services office. The deadline
for this application is April 15, 2010.
The New Jersey School Building and Grounds
Association is offering four (4)
scholarships to graduating seniors in the
amount of $1,000. Please see Mrs. Coia in
Student Services for an application and
further information. Deadline for this
scholarship is April 15, 2010.
The Monmouth Civic Chorus is offering
scholarships to graduating seniors who are
vocally talented and will pursue a college
degree. Students will be required to
audition. See Mrs. Coia in Student Services
for an application and further information.
Deadline for this scholarship is April 10,
2010.
The Kingdom of Lucerne, a living history
organization, is offering a $500 award to a
graduating senior who will pursue a college
degree. Several requirements apply. Please
see Mrs. Coia in the Student Services office
for further information and an application.
Deadline for this application is March 1,
2010.
The Ocean County Reading Council is offering
the Dawn Guarneri Scholarship to graduating
seniors. This award, in the amount of
$500.00, is offered to students who will
pursue a degree in the field of education.
Deadline for application is March 26, 2010.

The New Jersey Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Association, Inc., is offering a $1,000
scholarship to a graduating senior who may
be suffering with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. Please see

information and an application. Deadline for
this application is April 19, 2010.
The Southern Ocean County Hospital is
offering a $1,500 scholarship to a
graduating senior who will pursue a career
in a healthcare-related field. Please see
Mrs. Coia in Student Services for an
application. Deadline for this scholarship
is March 20, 2010.
St. Francis Parish Scholarship Committee is
offering scholarships to graduating seniors
who has been accepted to a college or
technical school. Other requirements apply.

Deadline is March 26, 2010.
Ocean First Foundation is pleased to offer a
new scholarship to graduating seniors who
will attend Brookdale Community College,
Ocean County College, Georgian Court
University, or Monmouth University.
Deadlines are April 30 for Brookdale and
OCC; and, March 1 for Georgian Court and
Monmouth. Successful applicants will have a
3.0 GPA and meet other requirements. Please
see Mrs. Coia for an application and further
information.
The SOCH Auxiliary is offering the Gene
LeBlanc Memorial Scholarship to students
accepted to or enrolled in a healthcare
program at an accredited college. Please see
Mrs. Coia for further information and an
application. Deadline for application is
April 15, 2010.
Bank of America is pleased to offer the John
and Irene Papines Scholarship to students of
Greek heritage. Applications and further
information are available with Mrs. Coia in
the Student Services office. Deadline for
this application is May 1, 2010.
The Local 54 Scholarship Committee is
offering it's UNITE HERE Scholarship Awards
for 2010. Three different scholarships are
being offering in amounts ranging from
$1,000 to $2,000. Certain requirements

Services for applications and more
information. Deadline is April 16, 2010.
The New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA)
is offering the NJUA Equal Employment
Opportunity Scholarships, valued at $1500
each, to two (2) New Jersey High School
seniors. Certain requirements apply. Please
see Mrs. Coia in Student Services for
further information and an application.
Deadline for this scholarship is April 2,
2010.
The National Association of Water
Companies--New Jersey Chapter is offering a
$2,500 scholarship to graduating seniors who
will attend a New Jersey College and are
interested in the water utility industry or
a related field (environmental sciences,
biology, chemistry, engineering,
communications, computer science, etc.).

The Monmouth-Ocean County Council of the
Jewish War Veterans of the USA will again
accept applications for the 2010 XX Olympiad
Memorial Award. Several cash awards are

information. Deadline for application is May
1, 2010.
Rolling Thunder, Inc., New Jersey Chapter 2,
is offering two (2) $1,000 scholarships to
dependents of veterans who are graduating
this year and have been accepted at an
institution of higher learning. Other
requirements apply. Please see Mrs. Coia in
Student Services for further information and
an application. Deadline for application is
April 10, 2010.
The New Jersey State Elks Special Children's
Committee is once again pleased to announce
that their Special Needs Scholarship Awards
are now available. Any and all physically
disabled high school seniors, who will be
furthering their education, are qualified to
respond. Two (2) scholarships will be
awarded worth up to $2,500 per year. Please
see Mrs. Coia for information and an
application. Deadline is April 2, 2010.
The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey
is pleased to announce the availability of
two Education Scholarships for the 2010-2011
School Year. The following scholarships are
being offered: one (1) valued at $3,000 that
can be applied towards any marine trades
program at any school, and one (1) valued at
$18,000 which is a full scholarship for the
Marine Service Technology Program at the
Automotive Training Center in Pennsylvania.

The Fraternal Order of Police, Ocean County
Lodge #10, is offering the Sandra G. Kaye
Memorial Scholarship to graduating seniors
who will pursue a degree in the field of
Criminal Justice. Scholarships in the amount
of $1,000 will be offered to two (2)
deserving candidates. Please see Mrs. Coia

scholarship is June 1, 2010.
The Lambda Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha
Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Inc., is
offering a scholarship to graduating seniors
from Ocean County. Applications and further
information are available with Mrs. Coia in
the Student Services office. Deadline for
this application is April 7, 2010.
The Zonta Club of Southern Ocean County is
offereing its 2010 Young Women in Public
Affairs Award to all eligible young women in
Ocean County's high schools. Certain
requirements apply. Awards range from $500
to $3,000. Please visit www.zonta.org for

Deadline for this scholarship is March 22,
2010.
The Ocean County Elementary Administrators'
Association is offering a $350 scholarship
to Ocean County graduating seniors who will
pursue a degree in the field of education.

The Peter A. Spalluto Memorial Scholarship
for disabled students is being offered in
the amount of $2,000.00. This scholarship is
offered to disabled students graduating this
June, 2010. Please see Mrs. Coia in Student

March 31, 2010.
