Regular Board Meetings are held one time per month. At Regular Meetings, the Board takes official action on items to transact the business of the school district. A Board Work Session is part of the monthly agenda. Board members can publicly discuss a plethora of topics that do not include personnel, litigation, or negotiations. Public comments on agenda items are only heard at the beginning of these meetings during the Residents' Forum. There is also a Residents' Forum at the end of each meeting for general public comment.
Executive Session meetings to discuss confidential, legal, personnel, and negotiation items may be held before, during, or after any meeting. These meetings are closed to the public in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act ("Sunshine Law").
When May Visitors Speak At Meetings?
The Pinelands Regional Board of Education welcomes and encourages questions and comments from members of the community. Community members wishing to speak may do so during designated times set on the agenda. The Board President will recognize an audience member who wishes to speak. The audience member stands, states his/her name and address, and then addresses his/her comments and/or questions to the presiding officer. There is a three (3) minute time limit per individual, per Board policy.
Although the public's comments to the Board of Education are welcome, it is important that the community members be aware of the Chain of Command.
